Connecting a spontaneous printer to the system

What are we going to do?

In this article, we will show you how to connect a printer to your Spont POS system.
Please note:Not every printer can be connected to our system. Check the website to find printers that are pairing with the system. In this article we cover the Spont printer, Epson printer and the Citizen printer.

Connect the printer

  1. Connect the power cable and plug it into the power outlet.
  2. Connect the printer to your computer (by means of an Internet cable).
  3. Put a receipt roll in your printer.

Find the IP address of the Printer

The IP address is a kind of unique code/name that the printer gets when it is connected to your network. The spontaneous system needs this IP address to be able to communicate with the printer.
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Press and hold the FEED button.
  3. Turn the printer on again.
  4. Now a voucher comes out, look for the IP address, it is fairly at the top of the voucher and starts with 192.168.

Set the new IP of the printer

  1. Type this IP address that is on the voucher in the search bar in your browser.
  2. Then click on "configuration".
  3. Set the printer to DHCP Client
  4. Press save, press restart.


  1. Now the printer gets a new IP address when it is inserted into the router.
  2. Insert the printer in the router.
  3. Turn off the printer.
  4. Restart the printer while holding down the feed button.
  5. The printer will now have a new IP address.
  6. Enter this IP address in your search bar and go to configuration.
  7. Now reset the printer to Fixed IP address.
  8. Enter the new IP address for device IP address.
  9. Enter the new IP address at gateway address but the last number must be a 1.
  10. Press save, press restart.

Install the printer spontaneously

  1. Install the printer via settings
  2. To do this, go to hardware via the Spont backend.
  3. Press Add printer here, then you will see this:


4. Enter the IP address that is on the receipt and give the printer a name.
5. Printer type should be on both.

Print server

There must always be a print server online, otherwise it is not possible to print.

A KDS screen can be used as a print server, this must then be checked in the backend. You can do this by clicking on the KDS screen with hardware and then setting the switch "print server" to active. The KDS screen should always be online.
Or you need to install a spontaneous print server, it must be set in advance. and are connected to power and connected to the internet on location with a utp cable.

Connect the printer to the iPad

  1. Connect the printer to the iPad.
  2. Go through hardware to the iPad.
  3. Choose the right printer under options.

Link your products/categories "

Next, the printer must know which products and whether categories should or not print them out.
If you want to set this by category, go to products via the dark bar and then to categories.
Here you can link a printer per category by pressing the blue button; "pair printer".
Now every item associated with the category is printed out by the printer you paired.
You can do the same at product level by going to the settings of the category instead of category settings
There you will find the same blue button.
NOTE: You cannot link an entire category to one printer and then link one single product in this category to another printer.
To do this, you need to link the entire category at product level.
